105 Wildcats Earn D2ADA Academic Achievement Award – Central Washington University Athletics

ELLENSBURG,  Wash. — Central Washington University had 105 student-athletes receive the Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) Academic Achievement Award during the 2021-22 season, the association announced today.
The Academic Achievement Award is in its 15th year and recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level. In total, there were a record breaking 16,639 student-athletes from 169 institutions recognized for the 2021-22 Academic Achievement Awards.
“It is great to see our student-athletes continue to lead the conference in the number of D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award recipients. The D2 Athletic Directors Association does a wonderful job in ensuring academics are a priority in an NCAA Division 2 student-athlete’s life and this annual award helps recognize those student-athletes who excel in the classroom,” said Director of Athletics Dennis Francois.  “For us at Central, it is another testament to the dedication and focus our student-athletes place on their academics, as well as the emphasis of our coaches, staff, and faculty on the importance academic excellence.”
Central Washington’s 105 recipients is the most amongst Great Northwest Athletic Conference institutions for a third-straight year. It is also the third consecutive year the Wildcats have eclipsed 100 recipients.
In order to qualify for the Academic Achievement Award, a student-athlete must:
    – have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
    – have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college work
    – have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year (Given the continued challenges     institutions have had this year when it comes to participation, all athletes who meet bullet point items 1 and 2 are still eligible as     long as they were still an active member of the roster during this academic year)
