AMD Ryzen 7 5700G – technical specification:
The AMD Ryzen 7 5700G is a high end processor. It is an octa-core processor with hyperthreading support. So, there are 8 cores and 16 threads in the processors. The CPU runs on the base clock speed of 3.8 GHz but the clock speed can be further boosted to the maximum clock speed of 4.6GHz.
AMD Ryzen 7 5700G has got 4MB and 16 MB of L2 and L3 cache respectively. It is based on 7 nm transistor-size lithography.
The CPU also comes with an integrated graphics processing unit. It comes with an 8-core integrated GPU. The Radeon graphics, integrated with the processor runs at 2GHz clock speed,
Intel Core i7 11700 – technical specification:
Just like the AMD Ryzen 7 5700G, the Intel Core i7 11700 is also an octa-core processor with 16 threads.
Unlike the previous one, the Intel Core i7 11700 runs on a comparatively lower base clock speed, which is just 2.5 GHz. However, it runs at an impressive speed of 4.80GHz when boosted with Intel’s Turbo boost technology and at 4.9 GHz when further boosted with Intel’s Turbo boost technology. The CPU has got 16 MB of L3 cache in it.
Intel Core i7 11700 has an integrated GPU which runs at the maximum clock speed of 1.3GHz and can well handle 4K video output through HDMI at 60 Hz.
AMD Ryzen 7 5700G vs Intel i7 11700 – the differences:
Well, from the technical specifications of both processors, we have seen that there are some similarities and some dissimilarities between these 2 processors. In the following lines, we would see the dissimilarities explained in simple language.
Cores and threads:
Talking about the number of cores and threads the processors have, both the AMD Ryzen 7 5700G and Intel Core i7 11700 have an octa (8) core and 16 threads configuration. The configuration is adequate for handling most of the day to day tasks and ever capable enough to handle moderate gaming and video editing also.
Though the processors have similar core and threads configuration, yet the processors have different base clock speeds and also different boosted clock speeds.
While the Intel Core i7 11700 has just 2.5 GHz base clock speed, the AMD Ryzen 7 5700G has a base clock speed which is 3.8 GHz which is a great jump compared to 2.5GHz.
But, things completely change when we talk about the maximum clock speed of these two processors. Though the Ryzen 5700G was a leap ahead in the base clock speed, the Intel Core i7 11700G overtakes it by having 4.9 GHz clock speed, compared to Ryzen’s 4.6 GHz clock speed.
Though none of the processors are built for laptops that we have to consider the TDP of these processors before buying them. Still, it’s not bad at all to know the TDP of the processors to get an estimate of their power efficiency.
The AMD Ryzen 7 5700G and the Intel Core i711700 both have a TDP of 65 watts. This means that both of the processors will consume 65 watts of power every hour when they are not performing any tasks.
However, there are differences in the power consumption of these two processors while they are being used to their maximum potential. When being used at their maximum power, the Intel Core i7 11700 processor can consume up to 224 watts of power every hour while the AMD Ryzen 7 5700G will consume only 88 watts.
So, it is clear that if both the processors are used at their maximum potential, the Intel Core i7 CPU will consume about 3 times more power than the AMD Ryzen 7.
The AMD Ryzen 7 5700G used the AM4 socket while the Intel Core i7 11700 uses the LGA 1200 socket.
The advantage of AM4 sockets is that AMD had been using the socket for a long time. And, since they have been using it for a long time, it may be possible to upgrade from your old processor to this newer one without changing or replacing your old motherboard.
On the other hand, the LGA 1200 is a new socket and was launched by Intel in the year of 2020. So, if you had purchased your PC before the year 2020, you need to purchase a new motherboard to use the Intel Core i7 11700.
Now, coming to another important aspect of the comparison – pricing.

The AMD Ryzen 7 5700G is priced at $169, while the Intel Core i7 11700 is priced at $235.
If we consider the specifications of the processor with the price, it is clear the AMD Ryzen 7 5700G provides more value for money.
Talking about some additional features, it is good to mention that Intel Core i7 11700 supports Thunderbolt 4.0 port but the AMD Ryzen 7 5700G doesn’t.
So, these were the differences between the Intel Core i7 11700 and the AMD Ryzen 7 5700G. So, if you need to buy a new processor but in short of budget you can go for the AMD. But if you have money and need features, you can go for the Intel one.
