The Arby’s on South Atherton and West College that had been in business for at least four decades before its August 2011 closure has been demolished in preparation for the construction of a new multipurpose building.
All that sits where Arby’s once was is rubble, a dumpster and construction vehicles. Its 12-story replacement, The Metropolitan, looks like it’ll be pretty sweet — it will include student housing, retail, event space, and a parking garage, totaling 205,731 square feet.
Except for super seniors and former LEAPers, most current Penn State students never had a hungover meal at the Arby’s during their time here. It’ll probably be best remembered for the driver who put her car through its window in 2010.

Former Managing Editor of this site, now just makes lots of #content for it from the Phyrst’s Table 69. Senior from Philadelphia. First-generation Penn Stater. I might go to law school after this, but I might not, too. “For the Glory” is in my email signature because I’m a douche. [email protected] is my email if you want to tell me why I suck. Alternatively, you can call me out on Twitter @OlGilb.
