South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) grant beneficiaries who are collecting grants (besides the R350 SRD) can get ready to collect theirs from the South African Post Office.
Those collecting older persons, disability and children’s grants should be paid from the third day of next month.
The grants will start being paid from next Monday, 3 October. The older person’s grant will be paid first followed by the others.
SASSA grant payment dates for October:
Older persons – Monday, 3 October
Disability grants – Tuesday, 4 October
Children’s grants – Wednesday, 5 October

The agency explained that every time bank details are changed, the beneficiary will have to be verified – causing the delay. The agency further recommended that those who receive the grant open their own bank accounts with an institution of their choice as it will assist them in taking ‘ownership of their funds and collection’.
