SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have arrested a suspect accused of attacking a man with a crowbar before trying to run him and a woman over.
Joshua Armendariz, 36, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the incident on Nov. 6 at a gas station in the 8700 block of Interstate 35 South on the South Side, booking records show.
An arrest warrant affidavit states that Armendariz attacked the man with a crowbar, and the man fought back.
After the fight was broken up, Armendariz went to his car, got in, and tried to run over the man and a woman he was with, police said.
Armendariz “intentionally and repeatedly” hit the woman’s vehicle with his car and told them “he was going to kill them,” the affidavit states. He then drove away from the scene.
The victims reported scrapes and bruising on their bodies.
Police said Armendariz and the victims know each other, and a separate altercation occurred the day prior.
Armendariz was arrested Thursday morning, and his bond is set at $160,000, records show. He is also facing a charge of criminal mischief of $100-$750.
